Muscoot Tavern
The Muscoot Tavern, a beloved restaurant in Northern Westchester, has been serving up good grub in a quirky, relaxed setting since the roaring twenties. When Red Ski Creative was hired to do a brand reboot on this local fave, we knew we needed to create a fresh brand image. Yet at the same time, we had to maintain the heart and soul of a place that’s attracted customers for almost 100 years.
The Muscoot Tavern is legendary for its design…or some might smile and say lack thereof. Think funky, local roadhouse–rough, uneven floors and a low ceiling where you have to duck to enter the front door. These unique design elements were at the core of this brand’s ageless charm and needed to remain the same during its reboot.
Instead of giving Muscoot an entire brand “facelift”, we simply redesigned their logo, using a fresher illustration, rustic typography and a few homespun flourishes . We then created an edgy, up-to-the-minute responsive website adding enticing food photography to help build the brand’s new identity as a go-to place for exceptional food in a comfortable and rustic atmosphere.
To freshen up the interior space without losing any of the core vibe, we chose vintage photos of Muscoot’s iconic exterior back in its early days, photos of vintage cars, and other historical images tied to the region.
RSC also developed an extensive marking plan that included various ad slogans and an extensive print advertising campaign that ran in the local newspapers and magazines, to launch and revitalize this old-time favorite.
